When you like someone, your brain treats uncertainty about them like an open loop. It keeps coming back to the question because it cannot close it. Did that text mean something? Why did they laugh at that specific thing? Do they ask about me when I am not there?

What "They Think About You" Actually Means
When people ask this question, they usually mean: am I on their mind in the same way they are on mine? Do they notice when I am not around? Do they replay our conversations too?
There is no way to answer that directly. But there is a way to find out something closely related: if someone already has you in mind, they will think of you when they receive an anonymous message that someone has a crush on them.

You create a free anonymous invitation link with your name. You share it with your crush โ casually, like you came across something interesting.
They open it and see: "Someone who knows you has a secret crush. If you think you know who it is, enter their name." One guess only.
If you are on their mind โ if they think of you when they see that message โ they will enter your name. And you will both get a notification that it is a match.
If they are not thinking of you in that way, they will either not respond or enter someone else's name. You never find out which โ but either way, you stay completely anonymous.

They were thinking of you. The feeling is mutual. You have your answer, and you have it without putting yourself on the line.
If they do not
You still do not know for certain what they feel โ but you know they did not immediately think of you in that context. That is useful information. It does not mean no, but it gives you something real to work with.
